Reggie Pryor is best known for his dulcet baritone voice which best suits the jazz standards, but with range and versatility to carry out the musical theatre and classical crossover genres as well. Musically, some of the greatest influences on him are Nat King Cole, John Coltrane, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston and Lea Salonga. In his first album, Love Anthology, he carefully selected repertoire that highlights this versatility and influences.
Reggie was first introduced to music in church where he grew up with lyrical hymns, giving him the meaning of singing with soul. Along the way, he was exposed to the classical piano as a child and is picking up the guitar in the past years, but had always had a main passion in singing.
He started off singing in choirs and musicals in younger days, and was part of the Singapore premiers, Raffles Singers and Raffles Chorale (under conductor Toh Ban Sheng), with international accolades from Finland, Italy and Czech Republic. He then branched out to do more jazz-style in college where he was a vocalist in several jazz bands before doing more solo performances in many international events and weddings in multiple countries.
Originally hailing from Indonesia, Reggie currently resides in Singapore. He is proud of his Asian heritage and hopes to help promote jazz and his other musical styles in the region. He is also one of the original & current members of Regu A, an award-winning Indonesian vocal group that celebrates music across generations from the country.
Besides singing, Reggie is also a financial professional who has keen interest in viniculture and art history.
